Born and raised in the Western Cape, South Africa, I grew up in a very artistic home and I have always loved to create things. I taught myself to sew, quilt and crochet and to read any pattern. My passion for hand-crafting beautiful and unique items and living a life of creativity became a way of living. I was made for this. I was created to create, and out of that, Bella Poppelina was birthed.

Each piece I design and create is handmade and special and often created with a specific person in mind. I love seeing the look on someone’s face when they see the finished product and I see how much they value that. It is a bitter-sweet process – I put a lot of time and great care and attention into everything I make, so it can be hard to part with them once completed, but it is so rewarding seeing the smile on a client’s face!

I love nature, anything vintage and whimsical, my garden, succulents and fynbos. I grew up surrounded by beautiful fynbos & absolutely LOVE it. I am inspired by the beauty of nature that surrounds us, by the simple things in life, by conversations with close friends & loved ones, by seasons we go though in life… so many things that inspires me to do what I do. I am hugely grateful to have the incredible opportunity to create and be creative every day.
